My Story

170 mile, 24-hour “Coast 2 Coast 2026” Challenge:  St Bees to Robin Hood’s Bay

Wolverhampton Grammar School has run an annual Coast 2 Coast challenge for over 25 years.  It involves a group of Year 10 students running the 170 miles from St Bees to Robin Hood’s Bay as a relay team in just 24-hours.  This year’s Coast 2 Coast challenge will start at 7am on Saturday 23rd May from St Bees, with the aim of arriving in Robin Hood’s Bay by 7am on Sunday 24th May 2026.

In preparation for their challenge, the students undertake 16 weeks of extreme training to prepare them. Members of staff support the students during their training and the challenge itself.  Parents also support the students from along the route.

This year’s team is made up as follows:

Bobby, Louis, Gur-Mehar, Mason, Arjun, Charlie, Sebastian, Roopen, Hattie, Amber-Rose, Bea

Along with the sense of personal achievement for the students in completing this challenge, each year the event raises funds for a charity, which is chose by the students taking part that year.

For 2026, the students have decided to fundraise for The Good Shepherd – a local charity supporting the most disadvantaged people in Wolverhampton for over 50 years.  The Good Shepherd’s mission is to end homelessness, support recovery and create pathways out of poverty.  It offers crisis support including food and practical support, along with interventions to relieve homelessness and recovery from homelessness, mental health and addiction.

We hope that you are able to support our Coast 2 Coast 2026 Challenge and thank you in anticipation of your sponsorship.  Along with the personal achievement for competing this rewarding challenge, the students hope to raise as much money as they can for The Good Shepherd.

If you have any queries regarding the event, please do not hesitate to contact the School on 01902 421326.

With many thanks
